Kindergarten Poetry Night

I took Aubrey to her volleyball playoffs last night and Nick took Maddie to her poetry night. Nick took a bunch of pictures and videos for me so I could watch them later (if you want to see the videos email me and I will get them to you.) Maddie was so excited to get all dressed up and show everyone what she has learned. She cannot wait to be a big 1st grader!

Super Hero!

Lucas LOVES LOVES super heros. He has a few shirts that he wants to wear constantly. He will even go change in to one of them after we have put his pijamas or clothes on. This is what he came up with the other morning. He has on a Batman mask, a spider cape, a Green Lantern shirt, and I am not sure what the truck has to do with anything. I love being this kids Mom. He says the funniest things and keeps me on my toes.

Baby Shower

Last weekend I helped throw a shower for a friend who is having a boy very soon. It was fun coming up with the theme and what foods to have. We ended up finding this cute poem,

A sweet little baby is on his way.
Please join us for this special day.
Cute as a button he will be.
Help us to pamper the Mom to be!

which is what made me decide on the Cute as a Button theme. The food turned out really yummy. We had veggie cups, meat skewers, fruit cup pizzas, raspberry lemon and nutella french vanilla cupcakes, and a light lemon drink. My favorite part was making the diaper trike. There are so many fun things you can do with diapers (besides changing them).

Fun with Mustaches

I made some treats for Isaac's class to eat after they were done with one of their SOL tests. One of the treats were these chocolate mustaches. I love how they posed for the camera. The bet part though was eating them when we were done playing with them.

Spring Choir Concert

Aubrey was in a group solo for her end of the year choir concert. I love watching and listening to her sing. She has such an amazing talent. Even though her solo wasn't that exciting it was still fun to watch.

Fire Station

A friend of ours put together a trip to the fire station for a bunch of Lucas' friends. At first Lucas was really excited, but I think the size of everything scared him. For some reason he kept talking about monsters being inside before we even went in. The firemen (two of which were women) gave us a tour of the fire truck and even turned on the lights (not the siren). One of them then got in full gear and everyone except Lucas took a picture with him. I couldn't even get Lucas to go any closer to the fire truck than he did in the first picture. He was also given a hat and hasn't stopped talking about it since. Maybe we will have to go again so we can get some better pictures.

Strawberry Picking

A few weekends ago we went to a strawberry patch to pick some strawberries. It was a little early in the season, but we were able to fill a basket full. They were some of the best strawberries I have ever had (it made me miss my strawberries from Utah). I went home and made 6 containers of freezer jam and as of today there is only 1 left. Guess we will have to go again.

Lucas didn't like walking through the tall grass and Nick can't tell which strawberries are ripe so they went to look at the horses.
I

Art

Lucas has been working on his art so that one day it can be displayed on the wall of a museum. Right now I guess we will all just have to settle for the walls in our house.

Dragon Cake

Here is one of my latest cakes. If you want to see more you can head over to my cake blog amberscakes.blogspot.com.

Recorders

I would first like to start off by apologizing to my parents for making them listen to me when I played the recorder many years ago. I feel that as a parent I now understand their sacrifice. :) Isaac had his recorder concert a few weeks ago. They did a great job and it really wasn't as bad as I make it sound. He seemed to pick it up really quickly since he has been playing piano for a while now. It is always fun to go the the school and see my children perform.
You might not want to have the sound up too loud. Enjoy. :) (Sorry it is a little shaky. Lucas was in my lap.)

Maddie the Soccer Star

Maddie decided to take a break from gymnastics and play soccer. This time her Dad is not her coach. There are only 3 girls on the team and 7 boys (she doesn't mind though). Maddie is very aggressive and has scored several goals already this season. I keep expecting her to start doing cartwheels during games, but it hasn't happened yet.
