Spring Break!

Being that this week is Spring Break my friend Heather and I decided to do as many fun things (in order to keep the kids busy) as possible. Monday we went to the zoo. I forgot my camera, but Heather didn't. She will be getting me some pictures soon. It was the perfect day to go (apparently everyone else thought the same). It was lots of fun and the penguins were actually swimming in the water. Everyone would clap and get excited when one would jump in.. Maddie kept saying "Ooooo" and "Whats that". She loved all of the animals and wanted to know what they all were.

Today we went to the Living Planet Aquarium. Having only heard that this place was small and not that exciting (so not true) I had been putting off taking the kids. We decided to go because of the horrible weather (it snowed and was cold). It turned out to be alot of fun. At first Isaac kept saying how boring it was and that he thought we were going fishing. As we continued through the exhibits they got more and more excited. The kids loved the Jelly Fish and learned alot about them. Their favorite part of the Aquarium had to be the Stingrays in the touch pool. The kids were all scared to touch them, but Aubrey finally got enough courage and then she was hooked. When we were about to leave Isaac finally touched one and was so proud of himself. Near the touch pool was a play area that looked like a coral reef. The kids all loved playing there and it gave Heather and me a chance to sit. I highly recommend going!

Would you just let us go in!
"This is boring! I thought we were going fishing."Having fun driving the boat.
Not so sure about this. Aubrey was positive they were going to sting her.
I couldn't believe Aubrey was the first to touch one. Isaac is usually the brave one. This was the highlight of the trip for Maddie. She got to get out of her stroller.Moon Jellies

Giant Pacific Octopus - he started moving around when we got to him. I would not like to meet one of these in the ocean.

Lionfish - Heather and I thought this fish was pretty cool, but couldn't find the name of it. Well now we know.

Future Engineer

Isaac has been building with his legos for about two weeks straight now. He is so creative (it must be his left-handedness). I am constantly amazed by his imagination and artistic abilities. So far he has made boats, cars, Transformers, houses, a really cool bridge, and our family favorite ninja turtle doggies. Here are pictures of one of his creations.

Look Familiar?

So you would think by now I would actually watch my children (I really do). Today I realized that Madelyn can reach the kitchen counters, on her tip-toes. While I was cooking tortillas she was able to pull my whole pile of grated cheese, on a paper towel, onto the kitchen floor. Before this I had been feeding her little pieces of cheese and I guess she wanted more. This time Madelyn didn't clean it up with a broom she decided to use her mouth. Isaac saw the fun and decided to join in and kept saying "this is yummy cheese". Good thing I had recently vacuumed! I need to title this blog The Adventures of Madelyn.

Practice Cake

Here is the picture I said I would post of my practice cake. I tried two new cake recipes and two frosting recipes. The cakes turned out really yummy and moist. I think Nick ate about 10 of the chocolate cupcakes (and he doesn't really like cake). I had fun learning how to make the roses. The most fun part of it all was sharing and eating the cake.(sorry it isn't the best picture)

Evidence

Enough about cakes. Aubrey and Isaac wanted me to document when their Dad "attackles" them. I think the pictures prove that it isn't just daddy doing the "attackling". Daddy will never admit to doing anything of the sort. (The Moss Dictionary defines to attackle as - any act that involves attacking another person. Usually there is tackling involved). I will let you decide.

Wedding Cake

I have been asked to make a wedding cake for a friend's sister-in-law. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I have never actually done a wedding cake, but I have been wanting to venture into that other cake world. I will be trying new recipes (I found some yummy looking cake recipes that still use the box mixes, but you add other ingredients) and new techniques this weekend (while watching Conference). Because of my experimenting we will be eating cake for a week. Here is a picture of what I would like to be able to do. The flowers are made out of frosting! YUMMY! This would be pretty with roses also.
Maybe I will post some pictures of how things turn out tomorrow or I may just be lazy and use cupcakes to practice on.

April Fools

I have to say that April 1st in not one of my favorite days. Two years ago I was going to play a joke on Nick and say that I was pregnant. Well, the joke was on me. I WAS pregnant. Although it did turn out to be a wonderful surprise, but at the time it wasn't much fun. This year I thought I was safe and even forgot what day it was until Aubrey came home from school. She proclaimed that she hit one of her friends (of course I fell for it). It didn't take long for her to start laughing and yell "April Fools". I should have known.

As I was trying to put this blog together Maddie decided she wanted to have a little fun at my expense also. She decided to dump "fishies" on the floor and dance around in them. Look at those cute little eyes. (A few minutes before this she dumped a glass of water on the floor).
I think she felt bad for me because a few minutes later she decided to "help" mommy clean it up.

Finally

Okay, so after much (shall we say pushing) from my husband we or I have a blog. It has been fun to see everyone else's and after feeling a little left out I decided to stop procrastinating and just do it. I'm not sure where to start, but I will figure it out as I go.
