Car seat covers
My sister in law is having a baby girl a few weeks before I am due and for her birthday she wanted a car seat cover. I knew that I either had to find a boutique or make it myself. I didn't know of any boutiques so I convinced my talented sewing sister to come over and help me make one. I think it turned out really cute! The next day I even made one for myself by myself (well Rachel did help me cut it out the day before).
DC trip
A few weeks ago Nick had to go to DC on a business trip and I decided to hide in his luggage and tag along. It is so green out there that is made me realize what a desert we really live in. The first two days I was alone while Nick went to meetings and other work things. My friend from high school was nice enough to come pick me up and take me to Mt. Vernon (George Washington's home) on day 1. It was HUGE and really pretty. He is actually buried there along with many other family members. The picture below is of his mansion. I got to go on a tour through it, but they wouldn't let us take any pictures. The most interesting part was how short the ceilings and beds were back then (everyone was short).
Our first hotel was really nice and in a really nice area. It was a few blocks from the National Zoo and because I was alone for day 2 I decided to walk there and see the animals. I actually had a lot of fun and spent almost an hour watching the gorillas. They would pose for pictures, chase each other, and jump at the glass making the kids scream. This pictures reminds me of Isaac and I figured he could study it since he wants to be a gorilla when he grows up (one that lives on our roof).
We rode the Metro alot while in DC. By the end of our trip we became experts! Our second hotel was near the Mall and that area pretty much closes when the museums close. Because of this we had to venture to other parts of DC every night for dinner. It was fun to see all of the different ethnic restaurants and have such a variety to choose from. We ended up eating at an Italian, Chinese/Asian, and another Italian restaurant (baby was craving brick oven pizza). I wish Utah had as many food/ethnic choices as DC. This is a picture of how deep one of the Metro stops was.
My favorite part of the trip was seeing the Washington Monument, the war memorials, and the Lincoln Memorial. Although it was a lot of walking and my feet were ready to fall off it was worth it. There was such a neat feeling at those places. It made me appreciate our country and the sacrifices that were made for the freedoms we have. After walking through the monuments we went to a few museums, but then decided my feet needed a break.
We made it through several museums; the American History Museum, American Indian, Air and Space, and the National Archives. My favorite out of all of them was the National Archives. It was fun to see the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights (although they are so faded you can hardly read them anymore. We were still able to read the Constitution and I found it interesting that it constantly had two guards standing next to it.
We also were able to go to a soccer game with my brother in law and my cute nephew. When he first saw us all he said was "Where is Maddie". How cute!

Down on the Farm
For a church activity (that was barnyard themed) I made these chick cake pops. It was quite a bit of work, but they were yummy and a big hit.
I was in charge of decorating Aubrey's teacher's door again this year and decided to continue with the barnyard theme (I already had the animals and wording thanks to Shelley from our activity). It turned out way cute and makes me really really want a cricut, especially the cake decorating one.

Potty Time!
We have been trying to get Maddie to finish potty training for quite a while now. A few weeks ago Smiths Marketplace had their Princess dolls on sale for $5 each and Maddie wanted all of them so badly. So I came up with the idea of her earning beans each time she went potty and then when she reached one of her goals (lines) she would get one of the dolls. So far she has earned her first doll (Little Mermaid bath doll) and has been doing really well ever since. Next she will earn Charlotte (from Princess and the Frog) and then Tiana. She is now in her new Princess and the Frog underwear and is doing really well. It took us a while to decide how many beans she gets each time, but have finally decided on 5 because the other amounts got her to her first goal too quickly. Hopefully by the time the jar is full she will be fully potty trained. Only having one in diapers will be so nice. YEA!!
Easter
This year we had a very laid back Easter. With it also being Conference and yucky weather we didn't do too much, but it was still fun. The Easter Bunny decided to hide the baskets in the laundry room on the dryer (it took the kids a while to find them). He spoiled them rotten and game them more toys than candy. The snow melted enough so that later in the day we were able to have our annual hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Moss' house. The kids got lots of candy and still have yet to eat very much of it.
Isaac's birthday
Isaac is now 6 (actually he turned 6 almost a month ago). He decided to have a Lego party that actually turned out to be a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures from that day. On his actual birthday he got to open his family presents and was excited to find that he got a new two wheel scooter (he had been complaining about his 3 wheel being for babies for a long time).
