Halloween Fun 2012

The kids had lots of time on their hands during the storm so they decorated the house and carved pumpkins (Isaac did most of it). Isaac weighed his candy bag tonight and ended up with about 5 lbs.  Wow that is a lot of candy.

Eating their mummies. They didn't realize I was taking a picture. :)
Eyeball and brain soup (meatball minestrone soup made in the crockpot).

Spooky Tots

Lucas and I went to a local outdoor shopping center for Halloween. We got to watch a mad scientist show, decorate pumpkins, and go trick or treating around the stores. Lucas wanted to get his face painted, but changed his mind at the last minute and threw a fit. His favorite thing he got was a balloon that he has been playing with all day.

Halloween Dance

This was taken right before the kids went to their Halloween dance at their school. Aren't they scary?

Fall at Cox Farms

I first posted about Cox Farms back in August. Every Fall/Halloween season Cox Farms transforms into a completely different place. They have free cider, apples, and pumpkins. There are tons of slides, a corn maze, a hay ride, animals, food, and lots of other fun things. We decided to take the kids last Friday while the weather was still nice. We met up with some friends from our ward and had so much fun! I think we could have stayed for hours, but sadly they had to close for the night and the kids had to get ready for a Halloween dance at their school.

This was the beginning of the hayride. We counted down from 10 and then were visited by this very nice alien.

The corn maze had all sorts of fun areas within it. There was a bus that when you went in it felt like you were spinning. There was an amazon area, a pirate area, funny mirrors, a tilted bug infested house, and several others. It was very creative and fun.

Can you guess who this is?

Leaves

Can you spot the children? I love Fall! I don't love leaves. Since moving to Virginia I have never seen so many leaves in my life. We rake and bag and wake up the next morning to even more leaves on the ground. The kids have had lots of fun with them though and the colors on the trees are really pretty. After the storm we probably won't have to worry too much about trees anymore.

Gymnastics

Maddie is one of the most flexible people I know. She loves gymnastics and is very talented at it. She does cartwheels instead of  walking everywhere she goes. Now if only it would wear her out.

Zoo Fun

On Saturday (Nick's birthday) after watching a really good softball game (Aubrey had several awesome plays) we headed to the National Zoo. The kids and Nick had lots of fun!

This monkey was in an area where it roamed free. The worker told us that they never come out of the trees, but this one wanted to say hi to us. Never say never.
Nick got hungry along the way and decided to see what a chocolate tree tasted like. This tree reminded me of the one in the Dora episode where they sing "bate bate chocolate".

Happy birthday old man!! The zoo is getting ready for it's trick or treating and one of the displays just happened to be this one. I had to take a picture of the birthday boy by it. :)
